Photocopier Accounts

Members of staff may be entitled to an account to use the photocopier in G10 (mail room) with an allowance of copy credits and PIN access via a copy controller device. If access to the photocopier is required an academic or research staff member is allocated 2000 credits, postgraduates are allocated 1000 credits, each academic year.

Please contact Roy Welensky to find out if an account is available for you and to receive your PIN. The PIN is specific to the photocopier in the Psychology mail room/servitor’s office in the concourse.

On the wall to the left of the photocopier you will see an alphanumerical keypad into which you key your PIN. Press the Enter/Yes button. Your name will be displayed and you need to press the Enter/Yes button again to confirm you are using the correct account. The keypad display will indicate the number of photocopies you have remaining in your account (i.e. it counts down to zero for limited accounts) and now allows you access to the photocopier’s control panel to do your photocopying job.

Your account will remain open while the photocopier is in use and for two minutes after any period of inactivity. It is important to make a note of this fact. At the end of your photocopying job press the Finish key on the keypad you used to enter your PIN to close the session. If you forget to end the session and somebody else nips in before the two minute period is completed that person will be using your photocopy credits. For the same reason do not disclose your PIN to anyone-else. If, while you are doing a photocopying job, the keypad beeps and closes the session simply rekey your PIN and continue.

The servitor recharges the paper trays each morning so if the photocopier runs short of paper (unlikely, but possible) you need to seek him out to refill them as he has the key to the paper store. If a paper jam occurs the photocopier’s own display panel will indicate the location and remedy required. Report any other faults to the servitor or Roy Welensky and an engineer will be notified in due course.

Coffee Room

You are welcome to use the staff coffee room which has kettle, fridge, microwave, sink facilities and a Fairtrade hot drinks vending machine. It is requested, however, that if you use the room you must contribute to keeping it clean. The contents (both food and drink) of the fridge are discarded every Monday morning; ensure that any items deposited on Monday morning before the clearance are clearly labelled with the date and time to prevent it being discarded.

Fire Alarm test

The Fire Alarm is tested every Wednesday at 09:45 am (see Health & Safety information above for more information).
