Administrative Responsibilities & Affiliations
My current research has been strongly influenced by my experience as a committee member
for various organisations. I strongly believe that under the right conditions, committees have
the potential to lead to positive social change, and my research aims to find ways of improving
their work. I also believe that for this research to be of practical use, I need to maintain
an active involvement with a wide range of committees, in order to be faced with similar
dilemmas to those faced by the members of the committees I am studying. I have chosen
to call this approach 'embodied research practice'. Here are some of the committees I am
currently involved with, and my role within them:
CURRENT COMMITTEE INVOLVEMENT
- Research Network Senior Coordinator, European Federation of Psychology Students' Associations
Responsible for promoting research collaborations among psychology students in Europe
- Press Officer, Social Psychology Section, British Psychological Society
Responsible for writing press releases for the section, and for liaising with the media during its annual conference
- Member of The Psychologist Policy Committee, British Psychological Society
Contributing to policy decisions about the running of The Psychologist, and providing ideas for its re-design
- Committee Member of the Psychology Postgraduate Affairs Group (PsyPAG)
Responsible to liaise between PsyPAG and the International Committee of the British Psychological Society
- Postgraduate Representative on the International Committee, British Psychological Society
Responsible for representing the views of psychology postgraduate students across the UK
- Postgraduate Representative, Edinburgh Union Students Association (EUSA)
Responsible for representing the views of postgraduate students across all University of Edinburgh schools
