Research in visual cognition with a focus on real-world scene perception, visual attention, eye movement control, and scene representation and memory. Research in psycholinguistics with a focus on the multi-modal integration of language and visual information, and the relationship between language processing and eye movements in reading.
Professor Henderson holds the Chair in Visual Cognition and Cognitive Neuroscience at Edinburgh University. He moved to Edinburgh in 2006 from Michigan State University, where he was Professor and founding Director of the Cognitive Science Program. Professor Henderson is a Fellow of both the American Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science, and is Editor-in-Chief of the journal Visual Cognition. His research is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council and the Leverhulme Trust.
