I am interested in the evolutionary bases of personality and study this by examining personality in other species (especially great apes); the behavior genetics of personality; and the relationship between personality and several predictors and outcomes, including mortality, aging, well-being, and depression. These approaches are not mutually exclusive and I believe more powerful and convincing studies are those that employ multiple approaches. I am also interested in multivariate statistical analysis, including factor analysis, structural equation modeling, growth curve analysis, and survival analysis.
